Oh darling wont you be my valentine....

2 days away from the most 'romantic' day of the year, I thought I would share with you what I find to be the cutest Valentines date ideas ever... from cheap to the slightly expensive 'dig into your savings',  if only our other halves were as creative as we were... perhaps ill link him to this post and give him a few hints...

So the most common which most boyfs/hubbys go for is booking a nice restaurant and eating dinner. But how boring and cliche do you want to get?!
At least change it up a little and cook the dinner yourself, maybe even a picnic, on the beach? That would be better than sitting amongst other loved up couples in a busy restaurant. I couldn't pick one so here are a few cute beach dates that caught my eye and heart...

Also any lookout at sunset is adorable!! There's Sky High lookout in the Dandenongs (amazing views) or closer to home is up on Yarra Boulevard which is a great lookout over the city..
Photo does not do it justice

Otherwise, if you didn't mind being surrounded by other couples, one of my faves is going to the moonlight cinemas in the Royal Botanic Gardens or Cookie rooftop cinemas. Pack a picnic and a bottle of champagne (vodka in my case) and relax with a movie under the stars.. Just remember to pack something warm, like a blanket, a picnic rug and maybe even some pillows... and DONT forget the mozzie repellent!

I always thought it would be a great day / afternoon out to do a class together. Its not very often couples partake in classes together but its always different, fun and you learn something new!
A dance class would definitely get a few laughs out of each of you and get your blood pumping to continue the dance classes... at home... in bed.
Maybe even a nude drawing class, sculpture or painting class. Or any of these ideas you could set up at home... Titanic styles, then you would have paintings or pieces of handmade art to remember how you spent Valentines that year being creative!

For the wonderful men that are willing to spend that extra dime, these are a few things that would be incredible to get surprised with. Although I'm not one to croon over how much money is spent on me (I'm happy with homemade sushi and a DVD as we did last year) these ideas are very lovely indeed....

Dinner at '89', the top of Eureka Tower.. I know this falls under the cliche 'dinner' idea but what makes it special is the freekin views of Melbourne. At only $100 per person for a 5 course dinner this is definitely a to do for your loved one at some stage..

Hot Air balloon ride over Melbourne. I'm not 100% sure if there are sunset services, it would be easier to surprise your babe with because most of the flights are for sunrise.. and it gets a little difficult trying to explain to someone why on earth you have to wake up at 3am...
Also, for the couples that are thinking about getting engaged, there are hot air balloons with "Will you marry on me" bannered on the side. Very cute indeed...

Now, for the 'im going to spend copious amounts because my lady deserves it' men...
I wouldn't mind being whisked away for these dates...
PHILIPPINES! Yes I know this is a bit extravagant and expensive... but if you have the money I couldn't think of anything more amazing than spending a week of romance tanning and drinking in El Nido.

But... back to reality... who's going to buy you tickets overseas?
There are adorable little cabins you can hire in Daylesford and surrounding towns. For about $450-$900 for the weekend you get a secluded, fully furnished, romantic hut. Some have hot tubs that look out into the forrest. Just add alcohol, strawberries and candles its definitely worth the extra buck.
This is one I stayed in years ago as a birthday present. It was quiet, remote and had such beautiful scenery.

On top of that, there is Endota Day Spa where for about $250 each, you can get hourly full body massages, full body cocoon wraps, full body exfoliation, face masks, hot tub.. the list goes on and you honestly feel like a brand new person afterwards.

The choices are almost endless.... some of our brains just don't have the capacity to think of different ideas which is why dinner and a movie is so common and as said before 'cliche'.
Even I'm having a mental blank while writing this to think of ideas not many people would think of....
